Jack has been playing music most of his life. In the 1980’s his regionally
popular band from Ohio, The Source, reached the top of the national college
charts.
In the 1990’s after moving to Oakland he led a fusion band called “In
The Pocket!” Though they had only one release, their album qualified for
consideration for a Grammy in 1992.
Jack has resided at the Malonga Center
since 1999. In that time he has released 4 digital projects, all recorded in his
apartment computer studio. Jack played most of the instruments as well as
mixing and producing. He has also supplied music for several movie, TV,
and advertisement projects.
He has been giving one on one music lessons for
the last 15 years, teaching saxophone, guitar, bass, and piano. His specialty
is teaching people how to improvise on their instrument. He also likes his
students to tap deeper into the fun of music.
